Kaitlyn Mathews became a criminal defence lawyer to advocate for the rights of her clients.
Kaitlyn has always been fascinated by criminal law, and she attended the University of Guelph for her undergraduate degree to study Criminal Justice & Public Policy. For her law degree, Kaitlyn attended the University of Ottawa, and while in school she worked in different areas of law, namely family and child protection law. However, her interest always lay in criminal defence work, in her last year she worked in the Criminal Community Legal Clinic and knew this is the career she wanted to purse. Kaitlyn articled at a large criminal defence firm in downtown Toronto, and continued on as an associate.
While at Smith Litkowski, Kaitlyn has garnered trial experience with a focus on Charter applications, domestic violence cases, drug-related cases, and murder cases.
Kaitlyn recognizes the serious impact that criminal charges can have in someone’s life, and strives to keep her clients informed and supported throughout the process. Kaitlyn will do everything she can to ensure her clients’ right to a fair trial is protected.
